Words of Wisdom for Stoptober

Hi Quit-bloggers,
Stoptober is just around the corner and many people across the country are setting their Quit Date or cutting down (or even quitting now) in anticipation of the month-long challenge.
We'd love to be able to share any words of wisdom you might have with those who want to participate this year. Did you take part last year? What worked for you when first quitting? What advice would you give for those who have tried quitting before but haven't been successful?
If you'd like to share your insight and advice please email me at MitchellB@quit.org.nz and I'd be happy to share your experiences on our Facebook page.

Hi Lynal. I'm on Day 6. Can you please tell me, after a year, do you still crave like you did in week one? Do you get caught off guard and reach for a pack that isn't there? Do you still think about smoking 100 times a day? I'm looking for some hope that it gets easier... Please don't dumb it down for me.. What's "one year on" like?

I am still here

Hi all, fantastic to see so many newbies. I am getting really excited as I am doing a big countdown to my 1st Breathday only 13days to the big day. I never beat the weight issue but am sure I will find the right time to tackle that. Am really enjoying my new job, one of the best moves ever. Am sure I would have started smoking again if I was still at old job, so thank goodness for that.

Will post again in 4 weeks with my stats :-)
Love to you all

Its my 200 breathday Yipee

I have been quit for 6 Months, 2 Weeks, 2 Days, 20 hours, 33 minutes and 53 seconds (200 days). I have saved $2,228.44 by not smoking 4,017 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Week, 6 Days, 22 hours and 45 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 1/03/2010 7:15 p.m.

What a great feeling, I now weigh the same as when I first quit, was planning on been lighter but still happy as have managed to lose the few kilos gained. I smell lovely, yesterday spent $190 on perfume.
I only have the occassional "smoke moment" which passes in a moment.
I have regained the confidence I once had as a teenager, that must come from the new found energy, self satisfaction, self worth, a husband that loves me even more (he is so proud) and if I can do this I can do anything.

To everyone out there, keep up the good work it is all worth it in the end, you will have very hard days, stay strong.

With my new job starting next week (Friday) I may not be in contact much but you WILL be hearing from me, thanks for all your support
