Star in Quitline's new ads

Hi bloggers

We're looking for people who have quit smoking with the help of Quitline to take part in our new advertising campaign.

We're looking for all different kinds of people. Shooting will take place in early March in the Wellington region so it would be ideal (but not essential!) if you were living in the area.

To register your interest, please email Sarah Woods: sarahw@quit.org.nz
It would be very helpful if you could include some information about yourself and your quitting journey.

Many thanks!

just jag17 November, 2011

Hi Maggie, you have all of us here to vent to. We are all hear to listen even if we don't always speak up! Had to smile at the Spring cleaning, thats what we had to do at the start of our journeys to distract us from the cravings. As for the choc bars, they are another of the distractions along with TimTams. Thinking of you Maggie and wish could be of more help. XXXXX

Patsy10117 November, 2011

Morning Maggie
Well superwoman strikes again :) We all knew you could do it, and do it you did. You haven't come this far for nothing and it shows how strong you are! Spring cleaning is great to get the frustrations out isn't it, and as a distraction.
I hope that they can figure out a good path forward for your husband xx I'm sure he will be ok and be home in no time. Nelson has some great Drs, my Dad has been in and out for heart issues as he had a triple by pass years ago, and they have been fab with him. So hubby is in good hands.
So glad you are feeling better today - and Just Jag is right, we are all here to support you and you can vent to us any time. Quit family remember :) Just like a real family too, some of us drift in and out and others stay around a bit longer hahaha
Big hugs to you and keep us informed of how you and husband are.

Glad to hear that the cause of Hubby's problem is slowly being unravelled. I think it's so much better when you know the reason for something, no matter how dreadful it may be. Thinking of you with love.

909 days and a bit weak today

I have dealt with some blows during my quit but feeling very low today almost tempted to go buy a packet i just seem to have it all this week with father motherinlaw now hubby in hospitals all over NZ a seven day a week business to run with no help anywhere im at my wits end today just feel like crying very emotional at the moment sorry guys i know a smoke wont help but ???? to do Maggie

EmJay7116 November, 2011

hi maggie - you can't go buy smokes 909 days - you just can't - really you can't
has you said it will not help anything.
go through your blogs and read how hard it was in the beginning
can you imagine resetting the clock now - OMG you just can't

aufgehalten rauchen16 November, 2011

I'm with Emjay, 909 days is amazing dont even do that one, dont give up now

claire_mc16 November, 2011

I agree! you so cant, whats the point punishing yourself with ciggies? coz thats all it will be.. punishment You need reward...reward comes from not smoking!!!....feels much better in the end
so why punish yourself?

Patsy10116 November, 2011

Hi lovely Maggie xxx
Sorry to hear that you are having such a rough time of it! I hope that your husband, dad and mother in law are all ok!? that's really hard for everyone.
I know it feels awful for you today and you have SO much to do!! But you can do it!! You are an amazing woman, who has juggled everything for so long - AND you quit smoking on top of that! That in itself is so huge, Maggie! If you can do that you can do ANYTHING!! You don't need that smoke, it won't won't help you at all - I promise you that, and you know that. Breath and go for a walk if you can, have a break and remember, even super woman needs to take five sometimes. It sounds like you need to sit down and have a cuppa right now..
909 days is such an amazing accomplishment Maggie!! You are so strong, and you should be so proud of yourself. Tomorrorow will be better xxxx
BIG HUGS xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

clarence the cat16 November, 2011

Maggie.
I can only endorse what the others are saying. Lady you have my utmost admiration. You must be so strong. Hang in there and remember that your having a smoke won't really change anything. I hope with all my heart things start to improve for you soon. xx

heironymus16 November, 2011

Maggie, dear Maggie, you know what to do. You let yourself cry, vent, let it out, and then pick yourself up and you keep going, because that's what you do... You're strong Maggie, and you know that you don't need to smoke to get through this. Do what Patsy says. Tomorrow will be better, especially if you don't smoke today.
Sending big big hugs and cuddles to you sweet lady!

just jag16 November, 2011

Hey Maggie, you are a strong woman and yes you will come through this battle. I guess our kids always think Mum is just there to run around for them but sometimes they suprise us. I really hope your kids will see that Mum needs a hand. Yell, scream, cry and do whatever but do not let the nicodemon win. XXXXXX

Unobtainius16 November, 2011

Like what they said. Hope everything turns out OK for your family members. But I cant understand how after all this time and all the examples you have seen in your life that smoking has no bearing on the outcome of situations, the somehow smoking is going help this time. Smoker or non smoker you are going to feel bad at the moment with everything that is going on with your family. It's only normal. I still cant see how re-starting some filthy habit you had years ago is going to do anything but make you fell worse?

yas0116 November, 2011

Maggie, I cant say anymore than everyone else has. Sending you big hugs & thoughts xx

trudger6717 November, 2011

909 days... what you have taught me is to never let my guard down and that addiction never ever goes away. I will be kidding myself if I think I will ever be safe from picking up a smoke, so must always 'suit up' for the battle everyday it seems. Thank you.

Hi Quit family !!!

859 days smokefree and still going strong nearly at 2 half years well we are 5 weeks out to the wedding hubby is doing okay just waiting on his treadmill test to see if he needs further investigation for the increased angina attacks.4 more weeks and its our ruby wedding anniversary its all happening.Good news i actually was able to read a couple of chapters in my book today after all this time it might be returning to me oh how i used to adore books before i quit but it has been a small sacrifice to pay and always hoped it would happen again one day .not the smoking ever but the love of books Maggie xxxxx

Joybelle27 September, 2011

Hi maggie, 859 awesome stats there, I note that when you quit you also stoped reading your books. I also have not gone back to the things I loved doing since quitting which is 225 days, I have read a few blogs that some people have this problem. How to get over it !!!! easier said than done.
Cheers

859 days Compared to 100 days woe is me!

clarence the cat28 September, 2011

Hi Maggie!! Good news all round. I am so happy for you.
I too gave up reading books, as that was my worst time for smoking. The more exciting the book, the more I smoked. I will go back to it soon. AWESOME stats Maggie.

rainbowfish28 September, 2011

Hi Maggie, exciting times for you at the moment, with the wedding as well as getting back to your beloved books. That's awesome! Glad to hear hubby is doing ok:)

Heya Maggie, Sounds like you're doing well at 859 days, Ruby wedding anniversary coming up, a wedding to attend soon, theres never a dull moment in your house is there, that all sounds Fab.
I never used to read books, but now i have read more books this year than i have in the last 10yrs.
Keep going Maggie, you're going to be real busy shortly attending lots of family gatherings, good on ya.
cheers

markrin28 September, 2011

I gave up because I could no longer afford to smoke. But I bought a book the other day. Oh the bliss ... holding a new book, smelling the smell and the anticipation! It's actually better than smoking lol.
