Day 367
Hi peeps
Yes I'm at day 367 and what a ride the last few days have been. I have been so spoilt of late that my head's still spinning. Kids loaded me with goodies and he-man took me away for a nice little "getmymackon" break haha. Now we're home again listening to the rain falling and wind howling.
At the beginning of my journey I had one thing on my mind and that was to tick the 'NO' box (on life insurance papers) that read "have you smoked any substance in the last 12 months". Now my friends I am happy to report that the box shall be ticked tomorrow YAY!
To all the bloggers coming up to their breathe days "tickle tickle" to you all lol. And finally a big WHOOP WHOOP to everyone on here regardless.
Pssst guess what?
I AM FINALLY AT 364 DAYS SMOKEFREE!!!! YAY!!!! I am so stoked I am almost yelling from the rooftop (well from my desk cos i'll probably fall off the roof) but hell it has been a ride like you wouldn't believe.
One year ago on Mother's Day I gave up smoking and sat here writing one of my many blogs detailing my journey for all to read.
And WOW! what a journey it was! But now that's behind me and NOW I have my breathe day tomorrow and the rest of my life to look forward too.
To those that have just joined WELCOME to your new life. Soon enough many more will be joining me and reaching their breathe days and you know we could start something real cool happening.
Quitline - while I haven't had to utilise your services apart from this site, thank you for being there quietly unassuming in the background working diligently to help so many people like me.
Onwards and Upwards friends onwards and upwards!!
Wow!
Hi Quitters
Just checking in with my stats as it's been very hectic. 300 days smokefree, 1286 grams of tobacco not smoked and saved $881 approx.
I'm stoked 8-)
Keep safe, have fun and stay healthy ;)
Hey hey Christchurch bloggers
Just read a report that you have been hit by quite a sizeable aftershock and there is damage down that way. My heart goes out to you all and keep your spirits high during this time. The stress will become unbearable yet again but remember you have put so much effort into becoming smokefree so please jump on during your tough times and blog your little hearts out.
Thinking of you all. Keep safe. Stay strong.
Good morning bloggers
is it not another fantastic Friday in this wonderful country of ours? I see there are loads of newbies on here again so welcome aboard! Your fantastic smokefree journey is about to begin and where else can you go for tips, laughter, tears and good sound advice...right here from the people who know and have been there.
Today is day 284 smokefree so I am well on my way to my breathe day (Mother's Day)...so that means loads of prezzies for moi...YAY! I think somehow he-man and the kiddliwinks need hugs and kisses as they are the one's that soldiered on with me even though they look a little worse for wear now lol. WE all hung in there and my insurance man is looking nicer as each smokefree day passes.
Some of you may not be aware that I am ticking the NO box for the question "have you smoked any substances in the last 12 months". I am tickled pink with myself over that one lol.
Okay ranting over EVERYONE have a wonderful day and awesome weekend!
Hey my friends
How is everyone? Congrats to all the newbies on here - you came to the right place to kickstart your health and new life! I have been nicodemon free for 259 days and I am doing REAL good.
For those of you who are going through a bit of a hard time feel free to read my past posts and you will read firsthand my journey on the highway to hell BUT I came out the other end and now I'm on a fantastic voyage and we can all ride that journey together ;-)
I will keep checking in to see how everyone is doing but I know we'll be fine!
STAY STRONG MY FRIENDS
Hey Hey Quitters
I'm back after being away for a while actually a long while lol. I am 249 days STILL smokefree and feeling great. I am counting down now for my breathe day in May AND I get to tick the NO box on the life insurance forms that ask if you have smoked any substances in the last 12 months. CAN'T WAIT!!! I will read other blogs as soon as I finish but wanted to call in and say "gidday".
Recently I was nearly involved in a fatal accident between a truck and van which killed the van driver on impact. It brought home to me that life really is short and we should not take it for granted. So now I spend alot of time with my family and catching up with friends and letting them know I love them. Hubby still refuses to let me do a tandem skydive after the accident down South but there may be hope at some stage.
To any newcomers on here that are reading this "like life it's not easy, but for every minute of every hour of every day that you don't smoke is a minute or hour or day that will make you a stronger and healthier person".
To the goodfellow quitters who are nearing their breathe day you are the inspiration for our new friends to keep on keeping on and your stories will forever be etched in their memories even in their darkest days.
O for Orsum good people. Peace!
TGIF
Hey Bloggers
Another week down and heading into the school holidays. Kids aaarrrrgggghhh they are going to be everywhere so I thought I would copy and paste some words of encouragement for you all these holidays. They are the lyrics from Groove Armada, if you have the song kudos if not then it's quite a funky song to help through some tough times. Have a great weekend and for the mummies and daddies stuck at home with the kids sing this song LOUDLY lol.
Whenever I'm down
I call on you my friend
A helping hand you lend
In my time of need
Whenever I'm down
I call on you my friend
(I call on you my friend)
(I call on you my friend)
Listen..

Whenever I'm down
And all that's going on
Is really going on
Just one of those days (and ju-h..)
You say the right things
To keep me moving on
To keep me going strong

YAHOOOOOO
I have just scored a coup in getting another friend to give up smoking, it has now been 24 days for her and her partner is down to 4 cigarettes a day. YESSSS I am grinning from ear to other ear and YESSSS I am backpatting myself. My gosh I feel like screaming from the rooftops but it's pretty windy out, I'll probably fall off and land in the rosebush lol.
My count so far 6 and many more to go
Hi de Hi
fellow non smokers just calling in for a quick look-see and see what's what with everyone. Today is my 133rd day smokefree and feeling pretty bloomin' wonderful. Since my sense of taste has come back fullforce the family are feeling the effects of my culinary skills in the form of some hot curries and spicy casseroles. Thank goodness for milk and yoghurt. I tell you what though colonic cleansing experts have got nothing on me lol.
Have a great week 8-D
Hey hey bloggers
I have some KUDOS awards to dish out in no particular order:
* People in Quake City, still holding on and having great sense of humours even in your darkest moments
* Our resident bloggers for reaching some important milestones (100 days, 50 days actually 1 day is a milestone as well)
* Quit team for making the blogs instantaneous
* Newbies - for entering the unknown and becoming world famous on here
So everyone take a bow and be proud that you own YOUR life.
I also just finished watching Dr Oz show on tv and there is now 3rd hand smoking which are the little particles that are blown out of your mouth and stick to your clothes, hair etc. and are turned into carcinogens affecting your loved ones, so when you think you are not affecting your loved ones with your habit...WRONG...they are affected in so many more ways.
My Stats
I have been smokefree 120 days or 4 months. I have saved 1 week, i day, 8 hours and counting of my life and according to him that matters "look and feel like the woman he went to heaven for all those years ago" .
I am Sad
for the families and friends that lost loved ones in the Foxton Glacier accident
for the Christchurch community who are tired, homeless, scared and vulnerable
for the people who are in denial about their smoking
for the people who have lost loved ones through smoking
for my husband and children who now refuse to let me do a tandem skydive
Today I am Sad :(
Time has flown by
so quickly I am now at Day 113 and still going strong. I have been so busy that I have checked in but not blogged in quite some time.
To those that are still hanging in there...much kudos! To those that have slipped...don't give up AND don't be so hard on yourself!
I always wondered why people went in days and not months when they gave up and now I know (well I think I do) it sounds so much better when you can say "I have been smokefree for 113 days". I know I love saying it and family and friends are most impressed hearing it :-)
Happy week to everyone.
My Stats so far
Quitkeeper:
I have been quit for 3 Months, 6 Days, 1 hour, 51 minutes and 20 seconds (98 days).
I have saved $1,029.80 by not smoking 1,961 cigarettes.
I have saved 6 Days, 19 hours and 25 minutes of my life.
Quit Calculator:
420 grams of tobacco not smoked and $287.00 saved (based on 30g tobacco at $22.00 incl. filters & papers and prior to the price rise)
My Quit Date: 9/05/2010 7:44 p.m.
I'm impressed with myself even after all the tantrums I have thrown...and there have been many.
Nearly there
Just 2 more days and I get the big 1-0-0 days smokefree under my belt. The weather is too lousy to do tandem skydive but it will happen, so in the meantime I will do the 100 day diet because my goodness I need too!
Have a happy smokefree week people :-)
Yay for me
Day 91 and only 9 days away from the big 1-0-0 :-)
Reflections...
In 15 days I will officially be 100 days smokefree, I am so rapt to have made it this far and am thinking of what I am going to treat myself with to celebrate. I have always wanted to do a tandem skydive but hubby can't understand why I would throw myself out of perfectly fine plane. I said it's another leap of faith into the unknown just like when I gave up smoking 85 days ago. Haha I am under the maximum weight limit but this weight that has found itself attached to me for the last hmmm 65 days or so is not cool, and I don't want to drag the instructor out of the plane and into oblivion lol.
On Saturday I attended a friend's unveiling and we remembered our other friends and whanau that all passed during the same week, it was heartbreaking watching our friends bury their loved ones and made us reflect on how short life is and how cruel it can be.
I see other bloggers have had a hard weekend as well and am glad they have managed to get through it without to much fallout. Good on everyone on here for being honest to us and yourselves and to my sister who is still trying to give up smoking kia kaha sissy I love you and you can beat this.
Confusion?
Hi Mandykoo
I have been catching up on blogs and noticed your blog on 20 July saying you have been smokefree for 65 days, then you also say that your quit date was 15 March? Would that not put you and 1Lyn1 at 126 days smokefree?
