Shattered
Hi Fellow Bloggers,
Know I havent been on the site for a long time but a lot has happened since my last blog & No I have not slipped up had to have a Cat Scan done in which they picked up a blood clot on one lung which I am having treatment for & that will be for the rest of my life it is to thin my blood the other bad news is while having had the Cat Scan they found a shadow on the left lung which now has been confirmed as cancer so as you can imagine I,m not overly happy at this point in time but have never regretted my decision to kick the habit of years of smoking thanks to Quitline & all you great bloggers am starting chemo in the next 2 weeks but I know I will beat this
So to all you newbies its never too late for you just do it
Wish I had happier news but will keep you up to speed on my progress when I can
Onward & Upward xxx

Well I will wish you all a very Happy New Year & hope you all have a safe & healthy 2011
Cheers to you all
Catching Up
Hi fellow bloggers (quitters)
Just catching up with all the news most of which is good some of us still having a rough patch but at least you are still with us, also good to see more & more newbies joining the journey of becoming smokefree, you will make it just takes time also one day or minute at a time whatever works for you
I,m now 197 days smokefree feels great dont feel like a leper when out socialising, but will admit there are times when I get tempted to pick it up again but tell myself why would I want to go back down that track again when I found those first couple of weeks so hard
Well hope you all have a great safe& healthy smokefree xmas also a wonderful New Year
Cheers to you all
What Next !!!!
Heard on news this morning that over in the UK they are thinking of making people clock in & out on their smoko breaks. Is it because they are not working or what & what about the non smokers do they have to do the same even though they are not smoking, makes you wonder if the same ruling will be put into place here in NZ sure sounds like more of a nanny state than ever, What Next???
Our Stars
Hi to Pukeko & Shane
Great stuff you guys whoop whoop!! You told them like it is great stuff cant believe they want to take away the rights of non smokers as in us everyone deserves to have smoko break whether they smoke or not
Weight to go
Well here I am 4 plus months down the track of being smoke free & enjoying it
Now comes another challenge is to lose the 4kg I have put on since giving up I didnt worry about it at the start, not until I went to try some of my summer clothes from last year on only to find out that nothing fitted or was so tight its not a good look, not only that I put on a brand new pair of 3/4 pants that I bought 3 weeks ago only & already have popped the dome arrrr!
Think this is going to be just a big a challenge as going smokefree but will take it one day at a time
Hope to lose at least 5kg by Christmas which isnt very far away if not its a good excuse to buy new clothes can now afford them seeing as I have given up the nicodemon
Wish me luck in my new challenge will keep you up to date on weight lose hopefully!!
100 Today
Cant believe I have managed to reach my 100 smokefree day feels good to even say it, though the journey has been tough it has been so worth it in every way health & monetary
To all you Cantabrians down there hope the worst is over for you & you can start to have some sort of a normal way of life I have been keeping up with news on a daily basis as I know most of us in NZ has also been doing
Wishing you all well keep up the fight & the good work
DAY 71
WOW!!! Cant believe I have got this far without caving in, not that I wasn,t tempted mind you it would have been so easy
The journey has been a trial of ups & downs highs & lows like a roller coaster sometimes even feel like I have been riding on one
Have dragged out the knitting needles to keep the hands busy but sometimes the mind isnt quite with it example have had to pull apart what I had done not once but 4 times & that was just about doing my head in & times like that I would have lit the dreaded nicodemon through sheer frustration but wouldnt let it beat me this time, but as you say onwards & upwards
The journey hasnt been an easy one but well worth the challenge
Hi to you all
Just worked it out I have been smoke free for 2 months, sounds better than days didnt think I would get this far without caving in have surprised myself even after smoking for 46 years but feel so much better for it in every way
Watched that video about Thanks tobacco you killed my Mum I dont usually cry about sad stories but you would have to be pretty hard hearted not to while watching this I know I did
Made me appreciate the reason why I gave up the dreaded nicodemon also for my kids & grandkids who I want to see grow into adults & be there for all there important years eg 21sts weddings etc
Well hope you have all had a good day so far enjoy reading all the blogs keeps me motivated
Day 56
Time has gone so quick cant believe I,m at day 56 have even given up the patches & down to 1 zyban tablet a day yahoo!!!!
Though must admit I still have the cravings but use the 4 D,s which work for me
Great to see a lot of newbies coming on board you wont regret the experience, yes it is bloody hard to start with but gets better with time as a lot of us can vouch for been there & done it so dont give in to the nicodemon
Hope you all have another great smoke free day
Now 42 Days
God where has the time gone I,m now at day 42 cant believe it thought I would have caved in by now but have ben strong though the nicodemon keeps beckoning me
I,m enjoying the freedom of being smoke free & the money saved is amazing, bought a new vacuum cleaner couple of weeks ago didnt even have to save for it
Grandkids think its great that I no longer smell like an old ashtray
Great to see more people joining the cause to become smoke free, you wont regret it
Question
Not sure if when we finish step 1 patches are we entitled to steps 2& 3 through the quitline
If any of the longer bloggers can answer this question I would appreciate it
Re eclipse mints or breathfreshners
Would like to know where this person who told jaxb thet eclipse breath freshners cause cancer & have they got any proof to back up this claim I,m sure if that was the case they would have been withdrawn from the market
My own son has eaten these for a number of years & he is in his 30s & so far hasn,t had any form of cancer that I know of as for eating barley sugars wouldn,t they be more of a health risk like putting on weight as a lot of us have been doing no matter what we chew on, best we stick to fruit & raw veges
Anyway all you bloggers happy smoke free week, we are all doing great
Hi jonosmo
If you look at one of my previous blogs I also have not coughed up the gunk that some of the bloggers talk about dam wonder as I have smoked for 46 years
Hope someone can give us an answer, not that I,m looking forward to coughing up gunk lol!!
It may happen yet good to know that you can get it off your chest, but will say my breathing is way better & I dont get puffed out as quick when I go for a walk which has,nt been happening a lot lately due to the wet weather
Anyway good luck with getting an answer to your question be interesting
Week 4
Well have surprised myself have made it only a couple of days short of my first month
What makes it easier is that hubby is also giving up as well he is a week ahead of me but he never says anything about the cravings unlike me they are still there but seem to be getting less each week so hang in there you newbies it does get better
Really enjoy reading all the fantastic blogs knowing I,m not the only one feeling a bit lost, weather doesnt help with being wet most days cant get out for a decent walk with the dog or get into the garden which is going to be full of weeds by the time the weather comes right, oh well it will give me something to do for a few hours at least
Hope you all have a another great week of being smoke free you are all doing great !!
Hi rachstu re zyban
Ihave been on zyban since quitting have been on them for 3 weeks think they do help, got my repeat script today last one will be in August so will be interesting to see how I go without them
Good luck with the quitting
Week 3
Well I have made it into my third week cravings still there but deal with even though its hard
Went to doctor last week re sore mouth & throat said I have infection in throat but gums still sore now on antibiotics just another pill I have to take
Havent been coughing anything up eg phelgm read that a lot of you are
Forgot to take patch off last night so sleep was evading me then the penny dropped DAM the patch think it was about 2am before I dropped off so slept in this morning
Anyway onward & upwards
Week 2
Well here I am into week 2 all going fine but now have mouth ulcers & feel like something stuck in my throat, am off to doctors this week so will get it checked out
Cravings still there but not so bad still having zyban along with patches
Read all the blogs sure that is keeping me sane lol!
Would be interested to know if anyone else has had mouth ulcers while giving up the dreaded nicodemon
Good luck to all the starters out there it is worth it no doubt you have read all the good things eg smell better, breath better & more energy
Feel great when shopping at supermarket that I no longer ask for the fags also have saved heaps in 2 weeks
Roll on week 3, they say it gets better with time
Week One
Hi to you all
Well I have survived week one now into my second week, cravings are still a big part of me, tried the lozenges but did not like them so have stuck with the patches also use eclipse mints which work for me & they,re sugar free
Had some moments where I could have murdered a fag but resisted temptation, moods get quite bad at times sure husband glad to go back to work after weekend with me
Know the family 100% behind me which is a huge help dont want to let them down now that I have got this far or myself for that matter
Taking one day at a time
Day One
This is my first with the patch on, a week ago I started on zyban & can honestly this worked for me I cut down from 25 to 3 in a week, had my final puff last night & threw out the last ashtray
Today I had some huge cravings but just drank water, but know this is part of the deal I have to bear for along time yet
Not looking forward to the weird dreams though, will wear patch to bed tonight & see what happens
Anyway like I said '' If you can do it so can I''
Will keep on blogging to let you know how I,m progressing each week
Oh I am so, so sorry. I really don't know what to say but send you love and thoughts and a hope you stay positive and kick the cancer. Big hugs xxx
