Quit Blogs

Star in Quitline's new ads

Hi bloggers

We're looking for people who have quit smoking with the help of Quitline to take part in our new advertising campaign.

We're looking for all different kinds of people. Shooting will take place in early March in the Wellington region so it would be ideal (but not essential!) if you were living in the area.

To register your interest, please email Sarah Woods: sarahw@quit.org.nz
It would be very helpful if you could include some information about yourself and your quitting journey.

Many thanks!

A Very Sad Quote...

"When I Die,
Don't Come Near My Body,
Because My Hands May Not Come to Wipe UR Tears Off That Time."

hahaha the only reson i laugh at that is because if i dont i might cry..im a bit like you to but i have the nagging head games and cravings but have just been sooo lazy lately...my theory is because smoking used to be kinda like a friend to me you mite say im not acually being lazy im more like grieving for what iv lost and we all no when we grieve that last thing on our mind is doing house work ect but good thing is one day we wake up and are just done done with the grief and are ready to get back on with life one day at a time a

Go easy on yourself ..we are recovering, recovering from years and years of smoking..
Our bodies and brains have taken a right old hammering for a long long time.
I forget what I'm writing here when I beat myself up over craving cigs or going mental or being unable to do anything or putting on weight or forgetting just how well I am doing...she's a hard one..

Me too, JaQz. I never watched TV when I smoked. I was always on the go - always thinking of things to do and of course rushing out every so often to have a smoke on the deck.

Since quitting, I have become a slave to certain programmes on television that I never even knew existed previously. And when I'm not doing that, I'm reading on the sofa, with a duvet over me and four dogs over the duvet.

My husband runs around fetching me everything I want. I have done a 180 degree turn in terms of becoming a couch slob. However, it has got me through the awful early withdrawal and has kept me away from cigarettes, and I reckon that when summer comes, this will pass because we'll have more daylight hours to do things outside.

My attitude is that you have to do whatever it takes to get you through the early days, weeks and months of quitting and withdrawal and changing routines and associations so we don't give in and go back to smoking, so whatever it takes as long it gets us there, is awesome. Because we are winning!!!!

Welcome to a life of been smokefree. Some people experience all the withdrawal symptoms and other none, if you are not smoking it is working.

getmymackon10 September, 2010

Congrats and welcome to the madness lol. No really this is the sanity of the insane which you will experience...believe me but you take each hour as it comes and each day as it goes. I went cold turkey in my efforts and today I am at 124 smokefree days and am blessed for this site. You will laugh, cry, scream and think OMG reading some of the blogs but we are being honest and our situations are open and raw to enable healing from our infamous nicodemons. Blog on friend blog on.

MisterMister9 September, 2010

Hi and welcome.
As pukeko has said, everyone's journey is different. What one person is experiencing may or may not affect you.
The journey is full of peaks and troughs and as many of the family have said in the past, the journey is a roller coaster ride.
Read other family members' blogs they will help. But most of all the journey is well worth it no matter how we complete it.
ODAAT!!!

horlicks9 September, 2010
