I just realised reading someone else's blog that today is my second smokefree birthday and I will be my second smokefree Christmas too.
Still can't believe I've been off the smokes for over a year and I'm into year 2 milestones.
Have a great Christmas and New Year everyone, stay strong and stay safe!!
400 days smokefree
Got a lovely surprise in the mail today - a letter from the life insurance company after I had asked our insurance broker to advise I had been off the smokes for a year. And the best part about it is other than being recorded as a non-smoker are the savings! Over $100 a month - that plus the $ not spent on buying tobacco will help pay for a whole heap more trips to see my darling girl and her gorgeous little men.
So to you newbies on here keep going it is possible and it is so worth the hard times and the effort required. Stay strong - stay smokefree
Time's moving on
I couldn't help myself I've changed my profile pic tonight to a recent one of my 3 adorable grandsons. Can't quite believe the twins are a year old already - OMG time does fly. Have another trip booked April/May next year when I'll finally get to see them all again - can't wait.
Have finally got our over-cap letter from EQC today so can move from that queue to the insurance queue. Not quite sure how to feel about but at least we don't have to manage our repairs ourselves because EQC think we might have weather tightness issues.
Still going strong with the non-smoking and nearly up to 400 days - where has that time gone aye!!
Stay strong and keep up the good work folks
Smokefree days: 385 days
Grams NOT smoked: 2200
Total savings: $2,200.00
Liking the look of the grams not smoked and the total savings today.
Well the ACC review is done and dusted but I'm not holding my breath for a decision in my favour but at least I gave it a shot and didn't smoke a single puff the day of it either. Could of really easy I was so stressed about the whole thing but I didn't.
Then I get home from work today and hubby says he's had a text message from EQC about our latest scope of works stating the figure they are going to settle us with is over the $100K mark. The sceptic I am needs to see it on official letterhead in writing but if its on the level then that means we're getting out from the EQC queue and entering the insurance company queue instead. Wish me luck!
I've also had great pleasure in writing a letter for the life insurance company advising I had been smokefree for a whole year. Yippee my premiums are going to come down so more money to be spending on visiting my girl and the grandbabies!!
Thanks so much for all your comments and congrats yesterday on my Breath day milestone.
I took annual leave yesterday so I could have a 4 day weekend without realising what day it was at the time so that was a great start to my day - no alarm clock and a lovely lazy morning catching up on some reading while having my morning coffees. Later in the day I managed to pick up a near new pair of Kumfs shoes at the local op shop which will be great for work. In the afternoon I wandered around the mall and then went and had a pedicure spa - bliss! I'm now sporting silver polish on my toe nails.
Stay strong & stay strong everyone - you are worth it!!

Stats Update: 355 days smokefree
Thanks for your messages yesterday - they are much appreciated in these trying times.
I liked the look of the numbers today and the bonus is it means there's only 10 days to go to my first breath day. Feeling pretty darn pleased with myself.
On Friday last week EQC rang and made an appointment for this morning to do an assessment they said. They were actually from the team looking at the design features of our home with a view to cash settling us rather than repairing our earthquake damage. When they first walked in they said we need to do another assessment because you haven't been assessed for all the quakes which was true but would not admit to really being here to check the outside for leaky home issues.
We had a fair idea of what they were going to try and do so were pretty tough on them insisting on them taking some floor level and not a surprise even though the damage doesn't look that bad the house has sunk in one area and twisted in others just as we suspected and had already had confirmed by a builder friend. We're also insisting they actually check the concrete slab for cracks by pulling up the carpet etc or using x-rays as nothing has been done previously.
Anyway at the end of the meeting they finally said we've decided we'll cost up your repairs because we will be paying you out because of the construction of your home and that the garden is sitting too high under the exterior. Basxxxds!!!
Needless to say I was so upset I started to cry before they had even left and couldn't stop for ages. The thought of having a ciggie or 2 did cross my mind at that point but thankfully wasn't acted upon. OMG I so do not like EQC.
350 days - the countdown commences
I'm still finding it really hard to comprehend I haven't a single puff for 350 days and in just 15 more days it will be a whole year!!!
Feeling pretty darn pleased with myself but its weird - I know I don't smoke but I don't feel like a non-smoker.
I have my big day off work by accident so I could have a 4 day weekend for Labour weekend so that's going to be a darn good start to my celebrations. Might go and get my nails (hands and feet) done as a treat.
Take care everyone and stay strong and smokefree
11 Calendar Months Today
Smokefree days: 335 days
Grams NOT smoked: 1915
Total savings: $1,950.00
OMG still can't quite believe I've not had one single puff for 11 months today!! Yippee
It's weird though I know in my head I don't smoke any more but sometimes I still think like a smoker and it's darn annoying!!
One of the reasons for my decision to quit was so the ENT specialist would consider surgery on my nose. Well that decision has paid off with surgery just over a week ago now. Not feeling the benefits yet but he did say it could take 2-6 weeks to feel any different. I'll keep you posted - hopefully on the difference its made to my breathing and sleeping.
Hope everyone's having a good night?
Take care and stay strong!!!
