the secret smokes in the garage
Had a rough day with cravings today anyway so i stared at them, they stared at me and i stared at them again. After a while i realised that they were still staring at me which in turn made me stare more back at them. It was a kind of smoke/munch stand off. Who was going to make the first move? Who would give a yard? what were the odds on the smokes winning or the munch being victorious? Who had the upper hand.. the mild mannered janitor - Ralph Munch or the addictive 30 odd years evilness of cigarettes?
So i REALLY stared at them and while staring, I noticed that they had a secret weapon right next to them.. you guessed it, the Robin to their Batman, the Watson to their Holmes - the..... Lighter!
My God.. Double stare off! 2 against 1. The perfect companions to ruin my life all over again.
I did walk out of that garage smoke free but it was a bloody hard moment. It got me wondering, there isnt another single thing in my life where just one leads to a habit. Nothing, nada, zilch.
I'd pay a lot of money to "enjoy" just the one cigarette and then to never want one again. I really would. For now though, I won the stare-off.
If you happen to be walking down the street one day or just sitting in a cafe minding your own business, you may just spot a rather handsome youthful looking fellow staring at you because he knows how to stare as he has stared and won a rather large battle in life. That individual would be me: Mr R Munch Esq.
I thank you.
