not me, if I was working for Quitline I would be SO rich considering all the time I have spent on this site in the last 810 days!!!

Ady28 January, 2012

Work for Quitline... No, not me.
Blogging here is volunteering,.. isn't it.! or is that seeking support help, i forget now, Oh well,... i'm just doing this cos i like to.

rainbowfish28 January, 2012

Me neither however I may as well be:)

clarence the cat28 January, 2012

Me neither.

maggie28 January, 2012

I would love to work for Quitline or something to do with giving up smoking even on a voluntary basis maybe when i retire in a couple of years may look into it in the meantime just blog and support to the family on here

Fatgirl28 January, 2012

nope nor me

Julesconan28 January, 2012

the ones that do work for quitlne have the logo under their names or when they comment, we are just real people, helping eachother through the tough time of quitting, its better than all the other aides put together I reckon.
: ) Kia Kaha

Xenophon28 January, 2012

I'm with you Julesconan - I can *just" imagine getting by without NRT (with great difficulty!); but I really, honestly don't think I could do it without the blogs! And yeah, kiwiquit, we're all just fellow quitters, none of us work or volunteer for Quitline. Quitline staff occasionally post a comment, but as Jules mentioned, you'll clearly see a big "Quitline" logo next to those posts :)

hello

Well i am soo Proud of my mother and myself for being 19days smokefree! Well i did catch my mum having a puff of one of our friends menthol ( she must of really wanted it) YUCK!
im amazed at how bad smokers smell and how far away you can smell the burning death stick.

i have put on about a KG but in saying that i have not been as active as i should be and i have been drinking more than i should be. I have noticed that i have switched smoking for drinking and eating for three! hehe

I do tend to spend more time on the computer but one of my goals is to go on holiday in Australia at some point this year.

yas0121 January, 2012

Congrats to you & your Mum. Our senses are so much better now you can sniff it out now ahy.

Cliffie21 January, 2012

That also applies to our sense of taste. Sometimes cravings are received as hunger pains and the brain is always wired to eat. Hence hand to mouth habit which is hard to stop.

Well done to you both for 19 days. Keep up the good work.

Ady22 January, 2012

Oh cool stuff Kiwiquit, & well done on 19 days for both you & mum.
Can smell a smoker miles away now aye, you keep on track & you'll soon save the dollars for that trip to Aussie, good on ya.
Pssst,... don't let mum sneak any puffs. LoL

WHAT A DAY

Hi all yesterday was total Hell! our group of friends just found out that one of our other friends have been totally playing us against each other saying some really nasty crap about each of us. I have had been thu all emotions sadness to crying! i can disregard the lies as i know the truth but when this person goes to my best friends mum and tells her lies to a point that she Believes !!!! and may of lost that friendship. the mother told me that she was told that i was using her son for money! im like WTF ( sorry Quitline) If that was the case than why was i there with beside him in hospital when he tried to kill himself! and other times when he was in need.

Anyways after all this I AM PROUD TO SAY I AM STILL SMOKE FREE!!!
The other friends that are involved are smokers and they were like trains yesterday and even one of them who has been smokefree for years and years was smoking!

to say the least i am no longer friends with this person as life is way to short for crap and i would rather spend it with those that love to live and not cause pain!

yas0110 January, 2012

Wow you have been thru a lot in last 24hrs and you stayed smokefree!
Awesome work, I went thru a simalir thing last year hence when I relapsed mine was someone in the family.
You should be proud of yourself for dealing with it and staying quit. You dont need people like that in your life :)

kiwiquit10 January, 2012

@ Yas01, how true and thank you for your kind words i am ready for what the devil has through at me that was all i could think of yesterday was it was the devil at play and he was NOT going to win this ONE! yes i believe in the lord and this has been one of my biggest helps in the quitting process. I just play healthy and happy music not all christian. and keep busy baby thats the best ting hehe

Mama E10 January, 2012

Wow mega 24hrs for you. Y do people do things like that???? I agree with yas01, you should be proud of yourself. It is good that you are no longer friends with that person, becos I believe we all need to surround ourselves with ppl that inspire us, challenge us and love us for who we r. Big ups to you having to deal with all that drama, and a high five for staying smokefree through it all!!!!! Kia kaha :) :)

clarence the cat10 January, 2012

Well done for dealing with all that nonsense and remaining SMOKEFREE. It is amazing the lengths some people will go to, to disturb others lives.
Hope things settle down for you soon. Stay strong.

Cliffie10 January, 2012

Well done. Amazing effort to keep SMOKEFREE given just about every trigger must have been reached by you in the last 24 hours.

kiwiquit11 January, 2012

@ Cliffe yes they were but i am a stubborn person and if i want something i get and and if not than you get the story hehe.
i thnk i am just realy i do get the urge some are bad at the moment anyways but i just dis them

Day 6!

Hey all well my mother and i have made it to day 6! yay im getting used to my new skin but not liking the screwed up dreams of me smoking. They are sooo vivid its not funny, last night was me going to a supermarket buying my normal ( pal mall blue) i light one up had a few puffs and stubbed it out and began to look for someone to give them too. as i did not want to smoke! is this normal???

Quitline8 January, 2012

Hi kiwiquit,

Well done to you and your mum for reaching day 6!

Are you wearing the patches to bed? The patches are designed to be work for 24 hours and it is recommended to wear them to bed and this helps with the early morning craving when you wake up. However, some people experience vivd dreams when they wear the patches while sleeping. If they disturb your sleep then you can take the patch off an hour before you go to bed and put a new one on first thing in the morning.

If you arent wearing the patches to bed then the disturbed sleep could be a result of all the changes your body is going through while withdrawing from the nicotine and things should settle down in time.

kiwiquit8 January, 2012

hey quitline, so far its cold turkey no patches.

clarence the cat8 January, 2012

Lots of people have "smoking" dreams. Mine is to dream I am at a party smoking up large. I can even taste them. When I wake up it takes ages to convince myself it was only a dream and I am still SMOKEFREE. Well done to reach day 6. Your fisrts week is almost done & dusted.

Strike 28 January, 2012

good on you and your mum for reaching day 6 that is awesome

clematis8 January, 2012

Well done on reaching day 6. You and your mum shld think about giving yourselves a treat. :)

Xenophon8 January, 2012

Well done to you and your mum kiwiquit and yes, I dream about smoking too, I think it's pretty normal! Your sub-conscious mind is probably very busy working through the whole quitting process. Keep up the great effort! :)

Nifty Fifty8 January, 2012

Hey Quitline, can you please have alook into getting a Kiwi Quit APP for Iphone or other! i have been using an UK app called (IQUIT) PLEASE look into this as its a great tool to have while on the go and most people now have smartphones.
I would use it as im sure others would!

Hi kiwiquit

Thank you for your blog. I've forwarded your suggestion to our Communications team. We appreciate any suggestions that may help to improve our services and our client experience.

trudger676 January, 2012

I think any mobile tool is great, but the benefits of my not smoking haven't allowed me to buy a smartphone yet.

Cliffie6 January, 2012

Like trudger67 - I don't own a smart phone; for now anyway. We will just have to rely on the old fashioned quit texts.

trudger673 January, 2012

Good on you, tell as many people what you are doing, even smoker friends and ask for their support, so if you are having a bad day, they are aware.

Why Hello all AGAIN!

this word AGAIN appears to be used very freely in here, and im using it too. once again i fall off the wagon. Its going to be a GREAT year for us all and im sure there will be many new peps on here as the price has gone up ( AGAIN) my normal pack was 15.00 now a 17.30 pack Och.

it is time that us KIWIS quit after all we only making the govt richer and our healths poorer..

I will try and post everyday wish me luck i know i can do it

sdyoung1 January, 2012

good luck, im sure this blog will be of great encouragement for us all and looking forward to using it

trudger671 January, 2012

Yes, there are many good reasons to quit, and not giving any more money to the government than necessary is a very good one. You can do it, welcome back!

Ady2 January, 2012

Welcome back Kiwiquit, Again,.. LoL
Stick around the blogs more like you say, im so sure it helps ppl to succeed more than a lot of us realise.
You know the drill, so hang on tight & good luck.
cheers

clarence the cat2 January, 2012

My Mother used to chant:
If at first you don't succeed, try try try again!!
It really works. Good Luck.

SmokePuncher2 January, 2012

Welcome back! If you fall off the wagon, just reflect on what made you go back to smokes and perhaps post them up here too. There will be many who had gone through the same struggles and are able to share some valuable advice. Haha yea the reality is that the prices will go up but not necessarily our pay packet! Wish you all the best in this new journey in the new year and hope to read more of your blogs!

clematis2 January, 2012

Good luck kiwiquit. Do it for yourself, remind yourself that your worth a health life free of a filthy addiction. Distract yourself when you get the urge to smoke. Remember that it doesn't make anything better even if it seems to for a while. :)
