Stats Update: 600 days smokefree........
Smokefree days: 600 days
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 15000
Total savings: $10,680.00
Checking in - What is amazing is that at this stage, its not so much being amazed at the stats, but being amazed that I was a smoker at all! 15,000 Cigs....Gross.....
All good in the hood and doing great. Boy is a delight and we are really looking forward to a summer of adventures....Without stopping every 5 min for a cig break....
It's great to know that I am going to live a little longer to see him grow into a man.
We do a run series on Takapuna Beach every week and I am the fittest I have been for a very long time. According to friends and colleagues, I am looking really well - As a result my confidence is back and I want to get out and about - it's a complete opposite to the vicious cycle you experience when you are smoking.
Enjoying life being single - might be on the shelf but do get taken off and 'dusted' occasionally! I have to say that I would never date a smoker.
So thanks again to Quitline - Thanks to my Angels who were there from Day 1 - Congrats to my buddies Julz and Mitchee who share the same milestone and to M-Dog & Zeb who will be joining us shortly......
Newbies - I share my story not to boast but to shout out that I have the will power to beat this addiction......We all can do it - Just get your head space sorted and everything will fall into place.....
Stats Update: 500 days smokefree!!!!!
Smokefree days: 500 days
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 12500
Total savings: $8,900.00
Wow!!!! Just could not comprehend these numbers when I was starting out on my quit journey. And what a journey it has been as those of you who hung out with me know!
Life is great - not what I expected it to be - but not smoking has made all the difference - I am no longer out of breath, I no longer stink, I no longer have to stop what i am doing every 10 min because I 'needed to chill with a smoke'
My confidence is back, my health is back and I have the respect of my family, friends and work colleagues because I kicked (the) butt.
I now know I will be around for a lot longer to watch my son grow into a man....something that I thought I was not going to see if I continued to smoke.
Thank God for this site - As I mentioned in prev posts - in 20 years I smoked 187,500 tabs. I gave up numerous times using a variety of methods but this site and the Angels on it ( You know who you are) mad the difference.
So never stop giving up, swap your addiction to this site and live for just one day at a time - before you know it, you will have stats like this.
Kia kaha - Dave.

Just been re-reading my blogs - This was my blog from just over a year ago:)
T - 1
Bought my last pack of cigs today. I stop tomorrow.....
Dairy owner sees me coming in and goes straight to the cig cabinet. Did not have the heart to tell him that his sales revenue is now going to drop....
In the last year I have bought around $4500 worth of packs - That's around 7615 Cigarettes...... Gross......
I have given up many times before, this time I have been inspired by your journeys - especially those who are hitting 100 days - It has been interesting reading your blogs from the start....
So I look forward to reading back at mine.
Remember Dave - These are the reasons why you are giving up:
Your relationship with your partner
Your energy levels
Your well being
Your hacking smokers cough
Your clothes that stink
Your bad breath
Your desire to feel good about yourself
Your time lost to smoking
Your desire to demonstrate will power and achievement
Your friends and family
Your inability to climb up stairs without feeling light headed
Your way of dealing with stress
Your ability to smell and taste again
Stay with it Dave....."I am losing nothing positive from giving up smoking'
Can not believe it has been a year......
Smokefree days: 368 days
Cigarettes NOT smoked: 9200

And what a year it has been :) Thanks to all my Angels who went through this journey with me.
What is so fab is that we can now say 'we dont smoke'....Takes a huge effort to get there but this has been for me my biggest challenge in my life and I did it....
Life is good all things considered, Boy is doing great, his Mum and I are working well as parallel parents and I have got involved with a single parent organisation which has been really helpful.
Good to hear of everyone's news. Lots of happy events ahead now that we are free to enjoy how life should be.....
Newbies - After 20 years and 187,500 cigs, this site was THE way for me to stop smoking - I was on this site reading and blogging morning, noon and night when I first started and that made all the difference.

Morena all - Thought I woud check in and Wow - Amazing !!!!
All good, life has settled down although it has been really busy but having no complaints:)
Feeling great, Smelling great and Looking great...Lost over 10kg via getting off my bum and doing things - something that i could only wish for when I was a lethargic smoker.....
Having a great time with my son (now 4) doing week on / week off with his Mum and that is working well. We do the 3B's : Boogie Boarding, Biking and anything to do with Balls....I am so greatful that I have stopped, Not just because of the renewed energy but I realise now how selfish I was - activities were based around whether I could smoke or not.... Can't believe that I used to behave like that......
Big Shout to my Angels who were there back in April last year......I know we talked about doing the 100K stroll. Would love to but don't think it will now work for me......
Continue to point people to this blog - it is a lifesaver.....

NEVER thought I could get this far.....Life still has it's moments but I can deal with it without nicotine.
Great to have everyone ( even those who I have recently met) continue to congratulate me - it's a big challenge but so worth it...
Don't look at how far you have to go but look how far you have come.....
178 Days Smoke Free…….4450 Cigs NOT smoked – FAO My Angels……
What can I say???? – well it has been one hell of a ride since I quit but looking back at my list of reasons to quit I posted on my blog back in April - it feels SO GOOD to finally be back in control of MY LIFE after 20 years.
It has been bitter / sweet – my partner and I have now separated (without one puff during the darkest hours – thanks to her ironically!) but my relationship and time I now have with my son is so much more rewarding. No more decisions made based around when was the last time I had a smoke…..
IT IS SO LIBERATING! Don’t feel lethargic (smoking TWO cigs in succession the minute I got out of bed) stress / anxiety levels ( all things considered) have dropped, I am back at the gym, I smell good, and I FEEL GREAT!
Sooooo…. Julz, M-Dog, Zeb…… Aka: Some of the Angels that got me through this…… We going to do this 100K Oxfam walk on April 6th or what????? Julz......Let us know what we need to do.....
Newbies.....Best advice I can give you - Make the most of this site - After smoking 182500 Cigs in 20 years then going cold turkey, this site changed my life - literally. Ask for and offer support - it works both ways......
