Quit Blogs

Star in Quitline's new ads

Hi bloggers

We're looking for people who have quit smoking with the help of Quitline to take part in our new advertising campaign.

We're looking for all different kinds of people. Shooting will take place in early March in the Wellington region so it would be ideal (but not essential!) if you were living in the area.

To register your interest, please email Sarah Woods: sarahw@quit.org.nz
It would be very helpful if you could include some information about yourself and your quitting journey.

Many thanks!

SSDD

I find myself a little depressed every day at the moment.
And I am procrastinating about my study a lot more.
Assessments are due next week, and i'm feeling terribly un-motivated.
One of my tutors said i'd chosen a bad time to quit smoking, cuz its only gunna get harder.
*sigh*
There is no logical reason why smoking will make my grades better LOL
Argh hsdfsgdfgjfsdf
I think my partners mum has started again .... which sux cuz she was a couple of days ahead of me :( Spent my first day hanging out with my mate who smokes the other day. She didn't have one the whole time we hung out, which I thought was really good of her :) Now I just have to convince her to join me!

Stick with it Ceroca!!!! You don't want to go back and do this all over again another time do you? Your tutor was a bit off the mark there I'm afraid....there is no 'bad time' to quit smoking. Okay stress and pressures are usual times we used to reach for cigarettes, but they didn't 'help' the stress or the pressure. Smoking also doesn't help you concentrate or write a better essay. As you say smoking doesn't make you smarter!!

You may need to break your study up a bit and instead of sit there with a pile of books in front of you whilst feeling unmotivated - get up put your walking shoes on and go for a walk for half an hour - don't just wander aimlessly, plan your route and stride it out. Come back put the kettle on, make a cuppa and then decide that you'll do an hour or two at the books. Then stop and do something else for an hour...then get back into the books again. This way you'll be moving and increase your motivation to both study and stay smoke free.

Oh well, your partners Mum has thrown in the towel - she's made her choice for whatever reason - a bit silly of her but that's her thing. Your quit is about you, now it's time for you to show people that you can do things alone and won't buckle just because you don't have someone quitting with you. This is all about YOU...you're quitting for your reasons and YOU will benefit immensely by not smoking. I think you have a real friend there with your smoking buddy as she cared enough about you not to smoke in your presence.

Stay positive Ceroca - you're doing it!!! Onwards and upwards my friend ☺
