Privacy statement
As part of our commitment to providing the best possible service to our Quitline callers and web site users, The Quit Group records information about Quitline callers and people registered on the Web site in a database so that they do not have to provide the same details each time they use our services. This is necessary as callers usually speak to different staff each time they call the Quitline and so the Web site can provide a more personalised service.
The Quit Group also records all telephone calls in the Quitline. We select a small percentage of these calls randomly for staff training purposes on a one-to-one basis. This helps improve the quality of the Quitline service, and ensures that the quit smoking information provided is consistent and accurate and identifies ways of providing callers with a better service to assist them in quitting smoking.
The privacy of personal information is very important and The Quit Group is committed to protecting the privacy of all Quitline callers and web site users. Only fully-trained Quitline staff have access to the information held in the database and the recorded calls. All database information and call recordings are stored securely. The recorded calls are held for a three-month period and are destroyed after the expiry of this period.
Quitline callers and web site users can request access to and correction of any personal information about themselves. This request should be in writing. Unless The Quit Group has lawful reason for withholding this information it will be provided to Quitline callers and web site users.
